RedWolves walk-off Blowfish

The Florence RedWolves defeat the Lexington County Blowfish 6-5 on a walk-off throwing error on Monday night at Sparrow Stadium.


The RedWolves (9-11) took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Michael Richardson (Ohio) singled home Reid Hardwick (Charleston Southern) to make it 1-0.


The Blowfish (5-13) would answer back with four runs in the top of the second to make it 4-1.


Florence would chop the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the second when Joe Weisenseel (Ohio) scored on a Grey Epps (Southern Illinois) sac fly to make it 4-2 Lexington.


But the Blowfish would add on in the fourth with another run to make it 5-2.


Florence would answer back with a run in the bottom of the fourth when Eldrige Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) scored on an error to make it 5-3 Lexington.


The RedWolves would finally catch the Blowfish in the bottom of the eighth when Eppa singled home Figueroa and Hardwick to tie the game at 5-5.


In the bottom of the 10th, the RedWolves would walk-off winners when Epps' bunt was thrown away by the Blowfish third basemen that allowed Figueroa to score and make it 6-5 RedWolves win.


Brett Manis (Ohio) picked up the win in relief pitching a 1.2 innings and striking out all five men to face him.


The RedWolves will hit the road on Tuesday for a double header with Lexington County and Wednesday for a regular game against Savannah.


Florence will return to Sparrow Stadium on Thursday to take on Savannah on Thirsty Thursday and Tidal Wave t-shirt giveaway night.


Thursday's gates will open at 6 pm with first pitch at 7 pm.
