The Edenton Steamers have announced their latest additions to the 2019 roster.
Alex Alders, Quincy Hamilton and Henry von Hollen of Wright State University will be joining the Clams this summer.
The trio is the first group of teammates to sign with Edenton.
Last summer, the Steamers had two Wright State players on their roster. RHP Jorge Lozano and 1B/DH Zane Harris, who was an all-star and the team's Most Valuable Player.
"We had two guys from Wright State last year and I have all the confidence in the world with Wright State's coaches and who they give us. The coaching staff and I have a really good rapport and I know that they will add depth and contribute for us," said head coach Russ Burroughs.
Alders, a 6'2 210-pound redshirt junior, is expected to start in the outfield for the Steamers.
"We really like the fact that he has had two years of playing experience in the outfield at a division one program. He's going to bring maturity to our outfield," Burroughs said.
The Sagamore Hills, OH native hit .300 last season with six doubles and a .368 on-base percentage.
Joining Alders in the outfield is Quincy Hamilton, a 6'0 190-pound redshirt sophomore from Centerville, OH.
"He has a lot of gap-to-gap power. He also has some speed which adds to his athleticism. Him and Alders will be able to anchor our outfield," Burroughs said.
Last summer, with the Champion City Kings, he hit six homeruns and eight doubles in 138 at-bats.
von Hollen, a 6'7 215-pound redshirt freshman, struck out 45 batters in 52.2 innings last summer with the Champion City Kings.
"Henry is a big body, so I am hoping he can provide intimidation for opposing hitters. The thing that stood out is that he has room to develop and mature this summer. I think being with us will be a big confidence boost and he will add depth to our staff," Burroughs said.
The Wright State products will have a prime opportunity this spring to establish chemistry with one another and carry it down south for a summer in Edenton.
