The Tobs add more depth to the outfield this season by signing a top-tier outfielder. Denison University will be sending junior outfielder Tanner Johnson to suit up for the Tobs this summer.
“Tanner has raw talent,” general manager Mike Bell said. “You really don’t see the talent that Tanner has in Division III.”
Johnson, a 6-foot-1 native from Jefferson, WI, had an outstanding season this year with the Big Red. Johnson hit .383 on the season and led the team in stolen bases (21), hits (57), doubles (17) and triples (3). Johnson also brought in 38 RBI’s along with two home runs.
“Tanner is an all-star,” head coach Aaron Lynch said. “He pretty much led Denison in hitting, hopefully he can bring the same energy to the Tobs.”
On the field, Johnson saw 96 chances and committed two errors which gave him a .979 fielding percentage.
