Tobs Baseball Camp Set for May 31-June 3
The Wilson Tobs announced today that their 2004 Baseball Camp will commence on Monday, May 31 at Fleming Stadium. The 2004 camp will run four days, ending on Thursday, June 3 the opening day of the 2004 Coastal Plain League Season. The 2004 Tobs Baseball Camp will run daily from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and is open to boys and girls, ages 5 to 12.
The 2004 Tobs Baseball Camp will provide four hours of daily instruction in the basic fundamentals of baseball through lecture, demonstration and practice. Drill work in areas of catching, throwing, hitting, fielding, position play and baserunning will be part of each days activities. Additionally, game situation play will occur in the final hour of each camp day. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level.
The Tobs Baseball Camp will be under the direction of Tobs Head Coach Todd Wilkinson. Wilkinson is also the head baseball coach at Barton College. He played baseball at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and professionally in the Montreal Expos organization. Wilkinson has been a successful instructor with various camps and organizations during his 16-year coaching career. Additionally, Tobs players and coaches will assist with camp instruction.
The fee for each camper is $125 and includes four hours of daily instruction, a camp T-shirt, a game ticket for the Tobs June 8 home game versus the Florence RedWolves and the opportunity to participate in pre-game activities. The Wilson Tobs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, a summer collegiate baseball league certified by the NCAA and Major League Baseball. Playing exclusively in the Carolinas and Virginia, the league attracts top players from collegiate programs throughout the Southeast.
The Tobs open the 2004 season at Wilmington on June 3. The home opener at Historic Fleming Stadium is June 4 at 7:05 p.m. against the Fayetteville SwampDogs.
