FOREST CITY, N.C. - The Forest City Owls have released their promotional schedule for the 2008 season. The season will kick off on May 29 with a special opening day ceremony beginning at 6:30 pm. First pitch on opening day will be 7:05 pm against the Gastonia Grizzlies. The game is sponsored by Mountain 1st Bank and the first 500 fans will receive Owls magnet schedules thanks to them.

In addition to opening day, the Owls will offer three fireworks shows throughout the summer. The first show will be after the May 31 game. The games on July 2 and August 2 will also be followed by fireworks.

The game on June 2 against Catawba Valley will be Little League Night. All youth wearing their baseball or softball uniforms will receive a general admission ticket for $3. Major League Baseball night on June 6 offers $3 tickets to anyone wearing apparel from their second favorite team (the Owls being everyone's favorite, of course), and the Owls will give away tickets to an Atlanta Braves game.

Mascot Mania comes to McNair Field on June 11 as Hoot's friends Toro from the Houston Texans, Rufus from the Charlotte Bobcats, and Sir Purr from the Carolina Panthers will make an appearance. Chizzle the Grizzle of the Gastonia Grizzlies may even be allowed into the ballpark to take in the action between the Owls and the Grizzlies.

The Owls will celebrate Fathers Day on June 15 by allowing all dads to play catch with their child in the outfield after the game. All kids ages 12 and under will be allowed to run the bases at McNair Field following the final Sunday afternoon game on July 27.

Giveaway nights include thunder sticks on June 21, rally towels on July 18, and a team photo on July 25.

Girl Scouts will take over McNair Field on May 31 and the Boy Scouts will have their turn on June 13. Former Owls players will be recognized and honored on July 24 and the Owls will have a NASCAR night on July 30. For the July 30 game against the Gastonia Grizzlies, all fans who wear apparel from their favorite NASCAR driver will be able to purchase a general admission ticket for $3 and NASCAR show cars will be on hand.

Other promotions include Rutherford Hospital Foundation Night on June 18, Forest City Merchant Association Night on June 26, Rutherford County Chamber Night on July 8, and KidSenses Owls Pals Night on July 30.
