Generals To Host State Championships
PETERSBURG, VA. - The Petersburg Generals and the Petersburg Sports Complex will host the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association state baseball tournament this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The VISAA is broken down into three divisions, with the smaller schools being labeled Division-3 and the larger schools being Division-1 and all other schools being classified as Division-2. The schedule is as follows:

The first round of the state tournament will be held at the home field of the higher seeded team with the semi-finals and finals being played at the Petersburg Sports Complex, home of the Petersburg Generals.
This year's tournament will feature many next level players, including, professional prospect, Kyle Long, LHP/1B from St. Anne's-Belfield High School in Charlottesville and son of NFL great, Howie Long. Greenbrier Christian Academy (Chesapeake, VA) is the defending Division-2 state champion and counts major leaguer, BJ Upton, as one of its alumni. They are currently 20-6 and tied for first place with Hampton Christian.
The Petersburg Generals are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its twelfth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and host.
