The HiToms have named former Post 87 alumnus Josh Massey as the HiToms new General Manager.

A 2002 graduate of Ledford High school, Massey excelled for the Panthers on both the football field and baseball diamond. Finishing his undergraduate degree at East Carolina University in 2007, Massey served last summer as the Wilson Tobs Director of Ticket Sales and Assistant General Manager .

“It’s been nearly 10 years since I’ve lived in Thomasville and played at Finch Field,” HiToms General Manager Josh Massey said, ” So I’m excited to be back and grateful for the opportunity to lead such a community treasure.”

Coordinating the HiToms corporate events and spearheading all group and ticket sales, Massey will also assist with the Post 87 HiToms summer and fall legion programs.

“Leaving the team in Wilson was difficult, but coming home to run the HiToms is the perfect fit for me,” Massey added. “ I am committed to broadening the HiToms programs and expanding our franchise’s community impact.”

“Josh displayed a tremendous work ethic last season with our Wilson franchise and this intensity along with his passion for the HiToms are natural ingredients for success,” HiToms President Greg Suire said. “I am thrilled that our two franchise leaders: Sean Walsh ‘ 99 and Josh Massey ’02 are products of our organic efforts. “We are committed to growing our franchise leaders and future players and this is just one more step in our long-term plan.”

The HiToms are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 46 alums – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut thus far.
