Capps, Lamb Head Top Prospects Lists for Coastal Plain League

The top two authorities on summer collegiate baseball - Baseball America and Perfect Game Crosschecker - announced their top prospects for the Coastal Plain League recently.
Fayetteville SwampDogs right-hander Carter Capps (Mount Olive) and Peninsula Pilots outfielder/left-hander Will Lamb (Clemson) (pictures courtesy of Pat Grecinger and Ralph Wood) were honored as the top prospects by Baseball America and PG Crosschecker respectively.
Capps was very impressive on the mound for the SwampDogs, finishing the summer with a 3-1 record and 1.60 ERA through 11 appearances. Of his four starts, three were complete games, while he also picked up four saves. In 45 innings pitched, the 6-5, 220-pound redshirt freshman surrendered just 11 runs - eight earned - on 35 hits. He also walked 10 and struck out 47.
Meanwhile, Lamb, who was also named the league’s top prospect in 2009, started just 12 games for the Pilots. In that time, he batted .396 with five doubles and three RBIs. He was also a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts.
