The Edenton Steamers defeated the Gastonia Grizzlies to be named 2015 CPL Petitt Cup Champions. Will the Steamers repeat in 2016 or will the CPL feature a new champion? Be sure to follow all the action this August. The 2016 Coastal Plain League Petitt Cup Playoffs begin August 10. Round 1 and Round 2 are single-elimination rounds occurring on August 10 and 12 respectively. The Championship Round will be August 14-16. Almond played in five games for the HiToms hitting an even .500 on the week. The North Carolina native notched eight total hits, with one double, two home runs and six RBIs for a .938 slugging percentage. He also showed patience at the plate drawing two walks to push his on-base percentage to .556.

Adam Scott (So., Wofford) Savannah

Scott pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout in the first game of a double header with Gastonia on June 15. The left-hander got the win, allowing only five hits, all singles, while striking out six for a .200 opponent’s batting average and 1.00 WHIP.
